True to its commitment for continuing staff professional development, the English Language Center (ELC), under the leadership of Mr. Saeed Al-Mashiki, will be holding its second annual symposium on April 18 &19, 2018, in the Multi-Purpose Hall, Salalah College of Technology.
Themed with Communication, Culture, and Creativity in English Language Teaching (CCC-ELT), the symposium aims to provide a friendly and stimulating atmosphere where presenters can get constructive feedback on their research and participants can benefit from new developments in ELT.
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Ali Al-Issa, currently dubbed as the best cited Omani English Language Education (ELE) scholar. He is an Associate Professor of ELE at the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, College of Education, Sultan Qaboos University, Muscat.
To prepare for the said symposium, the Steering Committee called for a meeting of all the committees on March 6, 2018, in the Self-Access Center of ELC.
Mr. Al-Mashiki, Head of the Center and Chairperson of the CCC-ELT Symposium, gave an overview of the symposium through a PowerPoint presentation. He urged the different committees that with unity and dedication, the symposium will mark another milestone in the ELC.
Various committees comprising of 47 staff have started to buckle down to work for the upcoming symposium. These include:
- Steering Committee
- Editing Committee
- Logistics Committee
- Printing Committee
- Social Media Committee
- Session Moderation Committee
- Technical Support Committee
As the meeting ended, the working committees assured their relentless support to contribute to the huge success of the two-day symposium.
