A Turnover Ceremony and Inauguration was held at the SCT Career Guidance Center on December 3, 2019. It was attended by representatives from SNC Lavalin, Salalah Methanol Company and Salalah Ammonia Project. The Head of the Engineering Department, Dr.Ali Mohsin Rafeet delivered the welcome remarks focusing on the importance of academia-industrial relationship. The College Dean, Dr.Anwar Amir Al-Ismaili expressed his appreciation on his message for the generous contribution of SNC-Lavalin and Salalah Ammonia Project. Guests from SNC-Lavalin (Ms Omaima Al-Jabri, ICV Coordinator) and Salalah Methanol Company (Mr Khalid AL Waily, Project Director) conveyed their appreciation to the College for its commitment in developing Oman’s next generation of experts and professionals and vowed to continuously support the institution in achieving its mission. Ms Ghida Ahmed Awadh, a Chemical Engineering Student, Bachelor Level, delivered an appreciation message on behalf of the students. The inauguration was capped with student project presentations to demonstrate the projects that the department looks forward to build using the new resources funded by the 2 companies and a visit to the Engineering Laboratories and classrooms for the demonstration of the new equipment.

The 10 latest equipments are to be used in several laboratories in the Electrical, Chemical, Civil and Mechanical Engineering sections. These new resources would serve as additional tools in the implementation of SCT’s more advanced curriculum and program through the students’ course projects, practical exercises and on-hand applications of modules.
