Board of Trustees Visit SCT Featured

In its continuing pursuit of ensuring continuous assistance and support to the achievement of academic excellence in the Colleges of Technology, the Board of Trustees of the Ministry of Manpower headed by Her Excellency, the Undersecretary, together with the Heads of the different Private Sectors, visited Salalah College of Technology on Monday, September 18, 2017.

The visit included a general review of the academic programs and curricula of the College, including an actual inspection and assessment of the different College facilities. It also provided the visitors a snapshot of the student projects of the different academic departments. The successful visit concluded with relevant suggestions and recommendations for SCT’s overall improvement.

تكريم المجيدين بالكلية التقنية بصلالة برعاية شركة ريسوت للأسمنت Featured

احتفلت الكلية التقنية بصلالة بتكريم المجيدين أكاديميا وبالمتميزين في مجالي الأنشطة المنهجية واللامنهجية للعام الدراسي 2016/2017 حيث تم تكريم ( ٢٠٧ ) طالبا وطالبة في مجال التميز الأكاديمي وعدد ( ١٣٩ ) طالبا وطالبة في مجال التميز في الأنشطة المنهجية واللامنهجية وذلك تحت رعاية الدكتور حمدان بن محمد المنذري عميد الكلية التقنية بصلالة وبحضور أعضاء الهيئتين الإدارية والأكاديمية وطلاب الكلية.

وفي هذا الإطار يقول الدكتور حمدان بن محمد المنذري عميد الكلية التقنية بصلالة: إن الكلية التقنية بصلالة تحرص على مبدأ التحفيز والتشجيع للطلبة والطالبات مشيرا إلى أن التحصيل العلمي يأتي ضمن أولوياتها لدفع الطلاب نحو المثابرة والاجتهاد في التحصيل الدراسي.

من جانبها قالت الدكتورة أمل بنت أحمد أجهام الشحري مساعدة العميد لشؤون الطلاب : إن الأنشطة اللامنهجية بالكلية جزء لا يتجزأ من العملية الأكاديمية وهي وسيلة ناجعة ومتفقة مع النظام التعليمي الحديث المتمثل في التعليم من خلال ممارسة الطلبة للأنشطة اللامنهجية والتي تتجسد في تنفيذ برامج ومناشط مختلفة تتناسب مع ميولهم وقدراتهم.

وأضافة كذلك : احتفالنا بالمجيدين والمجيدات إيمانا من الكلية التقنية بصلالة بمبدأ التحفيز والتشجيع لمزيد من البذل والعطاء من أجل غد مشرق لأبناء عمان الأوفياء في مختلف ميادين البناء.. ويسرنا في هذا اليوم البهيج أن نتقدم بالشكر لشركة ريسوت للأسمنت على رعايتها ودعمها المتواصل لأنشطة وفعاليات الكلية، فشكرا من الأعماق لهذا الدعم السخي والمتواصل من قبل شركة ريسوت للأسمنت

Sembcorp Salalah Visits SCT Featured

In an effort to foster mutually beneficial partnerships with the local community, and live by its vision of embodying its corporate social responsibility, Sembcorp Salalah Power & Water Company, through its CEO Alex Miguel visited Salalah College of Technology last April 6, 2017 and met with the college dean, Dr.Hamdan Al Manthari together with the assistant deans.

The meeting was very productive as future project collaborations were discussed including SembCorps commitment to accommodate SCT students as On-The-Job trainees in the company. They will also provide feedbacks on the performance of SCT graduates that they hired the past 2-3 years in the hope of contributing to the improvement of our quality program offerings to the current students that respond to changing market needs.

As part of SEMBCORP’S corporate social/community service, the company donated 10 LCD projectors that our College would use to implement our plans of development and expansion.

Sembcorp Salalah Power & Water Company (Sembcorp Salalah) developed, owns and operates an electricity generation and seawater desalination plant, the Salalah Independent Water and Power Plant, located between Taqah and Mirbat in Oman. The plant is located approximately 50 kilometres from Salalah, the administrative town in the Dhofar Governorate.

"الاستعداد لسوق العمل" محاضرة نظمتها كلية التقنية وشركة صلالة للمثيناول Featured

نظمت كلية التقنية بصلالة بالتعاون مع شركة صلالة للميثانول يوم الثلاثاء 7/3/2017م محاضرة بعنوان الاستعداد لسوق العمل والتي أقيمت بالقاعة المتعددة الأغراض بالكلية، وتأتي هذه المحاضرة ضمن سلسلة التعاون البناء الذي تقيمه الكلية مع الشركات والمؤسسات العاملة في القطاع الخاص بصلالة بهدف تنمية الفكر العملي لدى طلاب ومخرجات كلية التقنية حتى يخوضوا في سوق العمل وهم على أتم الاستعداد لمواجهة الفرق بين المعلومة النظرية والتطبيق العملي في الشركات ومؤسسات القطاع الخاص.
وحول هذا الموضوع قال أحمد بن مسلم كشوب رئيس الشؤون الخارجية بشركة صلالة للميثانول : إن تواجدنا في كلية التقنية ليس بجديد ذلك أن الكلية التقنية تعتبر شريك إستراتيجي للشركة من خلال إدراكنا بأهمية مخرجات الكلية التي تعتبر الأقرب الى حاجة الشركة،ومن هنا يأتي هذا التعاون من خلال إقامة مثل
هذه المحاضرات الإرشادية للطلاب التي بدورها تنعكس نتائجها بالايجاب للشركة في المستقبل عندما يتم توظيف مخرات الكلية بالشركة كما ان تعاوننا مع الكلية تجاوز الى ان يكون تعاون ملموس من خلال توفير شركة صلالة للميثانول بعض الأجهزة الالكترونية والميكانية التي تحتاجها الكلية في الأقسام الهندسية والأقسام الكيميائية.
ومن جانبه قال الدكتور حمدان بن محمد المنذري عميد الكلية التقنية بصلالة: ان الهدف الاساسي لهذه المحاضره هو تقريب وجهات النظر بين الطلاب بالكلية وبين الحياة العملية في الشركة وكانت المحاضرة جيدة من خلال الحضور و المشاركة للطلاب ومستوى تفاعلهم أثناء المحاضرة يعكس مدى حاجتهم للمعلومة، كما أن هناك خطة لتكثيف جرعة المحاضرات عن الاستعداد لسوق العمل من خلال استقطاب شركات اخرى وفي مجالات متنوعه حتى نضمن الفائدة لطلابنا ومخرجاتنا.

SCT Staff Assembly and Advising Workshop Organized Featured

In an effort to streamline the academic advising process, the Academic Affairs office of Salalah College of Technology organized an Academic Staff Assembly and Advising Workshop on January 24, 2017, at the college Multi-Purpose Hall.

The College Dean, Dr. Hamdan Al Manthari, in his opening remarks, cited the importance of the different roles played by the lecturers and encouraged them to share and discuss the challenges they faced in the process in order to help them perform their tasks more efficiently. The Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr.Said Al Mashiki also highlighted in his remarks the importance of teamwork between the staff and management in achieving the college goals. The Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, Dr. Amal Al Shahri also attended the assembly together with the Heads of Academic Departments.

Mr. Abdulrahman Saleh Al-Zoubi, Head of Admissions and Registrations department, made a presentation about the advising rules and process. Representatives from the Department registrars and probation consultants were also given time to discuss proposals and suggestions on how to improve the process.

The assembly culminated with an Open Forum where several members of the staff shared some of the challenges encountered in advising specially with the use of the new College Information Management System ( CIMS). Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Zoubi assured the staff that all of their concerns will be addressed. The assembly ended with a vote of thanks from the Assistant Dean of ADAA and the College Dean, noting that more staff gatherings will be held in the succeeding weeks and months in order to cultivate an environment of open dialogue and maximize the benefits of continuous improvements.

QA Organized Quality Assurance Awareness Featured

The Quality Assurance Unit conducted an Awareness Session for the IT and Business Departments staff on Tuesday, January 10th 2017 in the MPH.

The session was (Over View of Quality Assurance at SCT) and covered the following topics:

  1. Basic Information: Definition of Quality in HEIs,Vision, Mission, Values, Goals, Organization Chart and Guiding Documents.
  2. Routine QA Activities and ADRI: SP, OPs and Action Plans and how they are connected with the V&M.
  3. Accreditation Activities and ADRI: Introduction to the accreditation under OAAA and the College progress with regard to the accreditation.
  4. Staff Role in Quality Assurance.

The session emphasized the importance of spreading the QA culture among all staff and that it is a habit not an act.

SCT GENERAL STAFF ASSEMBLY Featured

The 2nd semester of AY 2016-2017 opens on January 1, 2017. To convey to all staff a message of wishes for a happy and a prosperous New Year, the College Dean, Dr Hamdan Al Manthari met all the staff in a General Assembly which was held at the College Multi-Purpose Hall. The College Management, led by the Dean, with Dr Said Al Mashiki, the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs and Dr Amal Al Shahri, the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, extended their wishes for all to achieve new heights of success and for the next year to bring more progress and achievements to the College.

An open discussion with the staff ensued discussing different ideas towards the continuous quality improvement of the College services and resources.

Presentation and workshop for ISA –working Groups by QAU Featured

The Quality Assurance Unit organized Awareness Session followed by workshop for Institutional Standard Assessment on November 22, 2016 12:00 PM at Career Guidance Centre.

Welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Said Omar Al Mashiki -ADAA. In his address, he thanked all ISA-working group members for their efforts in preparing college for OAAA Standard assessment.

Acting head of QAU, Mr. Suresh Kumar presented the overview of ISA Process. He also summarized the progress of ISA working groups till date in this regard.

The session was followed by workshop on Approach part of ADRI. He demonstrated the process by taking one criterion 1.5 Strategic Planning from Standard-1.

All members of eight ISA working groups attended and actively participated in the discussion.

SCT Celebrates 46th National Day Featured

Salalah College of Technology with the participation of Raysut Cement Company, celebrated the occasion of 46th National Day on 21 November, at the Self Access Center in ELC Building. The celebration started with the ribbon cutting which was graced by the College Dean, Dr. Hamdan Al Manthari. Booths were prepared by each Academic Department for exhibition. The program ended with the ceremonial cake cutting. The exhibition remained open to all students and staff afterwards.

2016 SCT Graduation Featured

On October 26, 2016, Salalah College of Technology celebrated the graduation of 566 students across the different specializations. Over the years, the college has produced an impressive alumni, including outstanding professionals, successful entrepreneurs, and responsible citizens. Again, congratulations to our graduates and it was their day to be recognized for their hard work and determination and we wish them all the best.”
