Guest Lecture on ‘Operational Audit’ Featured

Department of Business Studies organized a ‘Guest Lecture’ on the topic of ‘Operational Audit’. The event was organized by OJT and Industrial Link Committee in the department as a part of series of guest lectures to develop the hands-on skills of the students. Mr. Ashwani Jhamb, GM- Audit & Assurance and Board Secretary -Salalah Port was the guest speaker.

Dr. Amit Sharma, Coordinator- OJT and Industrial Link Committee in business department introduced the speaker to audience. The guest speaker, who has over 23 years of working experience in Oman, enlightens the audience with his informative lecture on procedures of internal and external audits in an organization.  

A group of 40 students from accounting specialization and 10 faculty members from department attended the event. At the end of presentation many of the students as well as faculty members discussed pertinent issues with the guest speaker.

Dr. Mohammed Ali Sulaiman- HoD- Business Studies extended his vote of thanks to the speaker and audience. He felicitated Mr. Ashwani Jhamb with a token of appreciation memento and certificate on behalf of business studies department. He also appreciated the students and staff members for their active participation in the event and promised to conduct more of such events in the future as well.

Student Induction Program

The Business Studies Department conducted induction program on 1st of February 2016 for the new intake students. The main purpose of the induction is to orient the students regarding college rules, regulation and important matters concerning the business department. The concluded induction program was carried out by Ms. Buthaina, Dr. Amal Shahri, Ms. Ebtisam, Mr. Ali Said Akaak, Mr. Khalid Shanfari and Mr. Ahmed Ghazali. The HOD of Business Studies Department Dr. Mohammed Ali Sulaiman supervised the conduct of the induction program.

Business Department organized workshop on “CGPA calculation”

Human Recourse Development Committee of Business Department organized “workshop on CGPA calculation” on Tuesday, 26th January. The resource person was Mr. Ali Said Ali Akaak, lecturer from Business Studies Department of Salalah College of Technology. Mr. Ali Said Ali Akaak used the Mark Management System to elaborately explain its applications, specific to the needs of Business Department. He explained how this can be used at its best to bring efficiency into advising work.

Dr. Mohammed Ali Said Bait Ali Sulaiman, the acting Head of Business Department thanked Mr. Ali Said Ali Akaak for sharing his knowledge and expertise with staff members in using Mark Management System. Mr. Ali Said Ali Akaak was presented a certificate of appreciation.

Business Department organized workshop on “Mark Management System”

Human Recourse Development Committee of Business Department organized a “workshop on Marks Management System” as part of its staff development initiatives. The event was conducted on Tuesday, 26th January. The resource persons were Mr. Allan and Mr. Barnard, lecturers from Information Technology Department of Salalah College of Technology. Both the resource persons explained the features of the software programme “Mark Management System (MMS)” developed by them. MMS is an indigenously built program to help the student-advisors to calculate CGPA, and build scenarios to move out of probation. Department staff practiced the program on the computer system to get familiarity.

At the end of the session Dr. Mohammed Ali Said Bait Ali Sulaiman, the acting Head of Business Department thanked the resource persons for their efforts in developing the program to improve the efficiency.
