“ELT in a Connected World”

Overview:

English language teaching in a connected world poses a great challenge to educators. They need to contemplate how to adequately prepare young people to navigate the future successfully and to become productive members of society.

Addressing that challenge, the English Language Center at University of Technology and Applied sciences-Salalah seeks to provide continuous staff professional development by conducting an annual symposium. It is noteworthy to point out that the ELC successfully conducted two national symposia: “Improving Teaching Quality” and “Communication, Culture, and Creativity in ELT.”

This academic year’s virtual symposium will provide an opportunity for academics from the University of Technology and Applied sciences (UTAS) and other Higher Education Institutions to explore with the demands of teaching in the digital world and to empower students to be lifelong learners; hence this proposal.

Aims:

  • To work towards raising standards among a national community of researchers, scholars, and practitioners by presenting the latest trends, developments, and challenges in the English teaching field.
  • To create a platform for sharing experiences and insights with other experts in the field.
  • To provide a friendly and simulating atmosphere where presenters can receive constructive feedback on their researches.
