The newly elected members of the Student Advisory Council for the Academic Year of 2021-2022 met Dr Mohammed Rashid Al Mamari, Dean of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences-Salalah, together with the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, Mr Ahmed Mohammed Al-Rawas, on October 27th, 2021.

The Dean commended the students’ efforts and noted on the significance of the formation of the Student Advisory Council in maintaining the connections between the administration and the student community. The Dean likewise reiterated the duties and responsibilities of the Council and solicited their support in fulfilling the mission and the vision of the University. A forum then convened to discuss key issues and explore important topics impacting the students’ educational experience at the University and the management’s perspective to the queries and concerns.

Finally, along and in affirmation with ADSA, the Dean expressed his confidence in the skills, dedication, and commitment of the new set of members which will ultimately lead to new initiatives for the new academic year.

A preliminary pre-development meeting of the Research and Development Laboratory was held on October 26, 2021 between OQ Company and the University of Technology and Applied Sciences-Salalah. The Community Investment Team of OQ has met with the Dean, Dr Mohammed Rashid Al Mamari, the Assistant Deans and the Head of Engineering Department of UTAS-Salalah to identify all the important issues outlining the process and the requirements of the new project. The meeting was intended to ultimately expedite the new development project, ease the completion process and procedural requirements including the relevant plans and details for the project construction and completion.

The University of Technology and Applied Sciences has recently signed a cooperation agreement with OQ Company to build a new Research and Development Laboratory in the Engineering Department of UTAS-Salalah. Supporting the development and implementation of social projects such as the new Research and Development Laboratory for the University is part of OQ's Social Investment action to strengthen the strategic partnership in the fields of technical and applied sciences and enhance the cooperation between the academic institutions and private sector institutions. This laboratory is intended to assist academic researchers in conducting qualitative research in the field of Chemical Engineering and to assist students in their graduation projects, in return contributing to serving the educational process at the university.

تم عقد اجتماع بين شركة OQ وجامعة التقنية والعلوم التطبيقية بصلالة لبحث مستجدات وتفاصيل انشاء مختبر البحوث والتطوير. التقى فريق الاستثمار المجتمعي في OQ مع العميد الدكتور محمد بن راشد المعمري ، ومساعدي العمداء ورئيس قسم الهندسة في الكلية التقنية بصلالة لتحديد جميع القضايا المهمة التي تحدد العملية ومتطلبات المشروع الجديد. وكان الهدف من الاجتماع في نهاية المطاف تسريع مشروع التطوير الجديد ، وتسهيل عملية الإنجاز والمتطلبات الإجرائية بما في ذلك الخطط ذات الصلة والتفاصيل الخاصة ببناء المشروع وإكماله.

University of Technology and Applied Sciences (Salalah College of Technology) Endorses an Agreement with the OQ Group to Construct a Research and Development Laboratory in the Engineering Department

The University of Technology and Applied Sciences (Salalah College of Technology) has signed a cooperation agreement with the OQ Group to construct a Research and Development Laboratory in the Engineering Department on the University’s branch campus in Salalah. The signing of this agreement stems from the principle of strengthening the strategic partnership in the fields of technical and applied sciences and enhancing cooperation between academic institutions and private sector institutions. This laboratory will also collaborate in qualifying students academically and training them technically and skillfully, which will eventually contribute to building capacities and skills to achieve competitiveness in line with Oman’s 2040 vision.

The agreement was underwritten by the President of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, His Excellency Dr. Saeed bin Hamad Al-Rubaie, and by Dr. Salem bin Saif Al-Hudhaili, CEO of Alternative Energy - Chairman of the Social Investment Projects Committee at OQ Group. His Excellency Dr. Saeed Al-Rubaie elaborated further that this type of partnership between the private sector and higher education institutions is of paramount importance, as it creates opportunities for integration between the two sectors, and contributes to raising the level of readiness of our graduates from the education sector and supporting scientific research and innovation, which constitutes one of the priorities and intended directions of Oman’s 2040 vision.

Dr. Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maamari, Dean of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Salalah (Salalah College Technology), confirmed that the signing of this agreement is based on the principle of strategic partnership between the public and private sectors, through which the university is dedicated to the process of qualifying its students and providing them with scientific and practical skills that are in line with the needs of the labor market. The laboratory, which will be built by OQ Group, will also assist academic researchers in conducting qualitative research in the field of chemical engineering and will, in addition, aid students in the successful completion of their graduation projects, as well contributing to serve the overall educational process at the University.

وقعت جامعة التقنية والعلوم التطبيقية ( تقنية صلالة ) اتفاقية تعاون مع مجموعة أوكيو لبناء مختبر البحوث والتطوير بقسم الهندسة في فرع الجامعة بصلالة ( تقنية صلالة ). ويأتي توقيع هذه الاتفاقية من مبدأ تعزيز الشراكة الاستراتيجية في مجالات العلوم التقنية و التطبيقية وتعزيز التعاون بين المؤسسات الأكاديمية ومؤسسات القطاع الخاص وسوف يساعد هذا المختبر في تأهيل الطلبة أكاديمياً وتدريبهم فنيا ومهارياً، مما سيساهم في بناء القدرات والمهارات بما يحقق التنافسية و ينسجم مع رؤية عمان ٢٠٤٠.

 

قام بتوقيع الاتفاقية من قبل جامعة التقنية والعلوم التطبيقية سعادة الدكتور سعيد بن حمد الربيعي رئيس الجامعة ومن قبل شركة أوكيو الدكتورسالم بن سيف الهذيلي الرئيس التنفيذي للطاقة البديلة – رئيس لجنة مشاريع الاستثمار الاجتماعي بشركة أوكيو وأوضح سعادة الدكتور سعيد الربيعي أن هذا النوع من الشراكة بين القطاع الخاص ومؤسسات التعليم العالي مهم بحيث يخلق فرص التكامل بين القطاعين، ويساهم في رفع مستوى جاهزية مخرجات قطاع التعليم ودعم البحث العلمي والابتكار والذي يُعد أحد الأولويات والتوجهات في رؤية عمان ٢٠٤٠.

 

كما أكد الدكتور محمد بن راشد المعمري – عميد جامعة التقنية و العلوم التطبيقية بصلالة ( تقنية صلالة ) بأن توقيع هذه الاتفاقية مبني على مبدأ الشراكة الاستراتيجية بين القطاعين العام والخاص والتي تحرص من خلالة الجامعة على تأهيل طلبتها ورفدهم بالمهارات العلمية والعملية والتي تتواكب مع احتياجات سوق العمل. كما أن هذا المختبر سيساعد الباحثين الأكاديمين في إجراء بحوث نوعية في مجال الهندسة الكيميائية وسوف يساعد الطلبة في مشاريع التخرج، وسيساهم في خدمة المسيرة التعليمية بالجامعة.

بالتعاون مع جامعة التقنية والعلوم التطبيقية - عبري , تم يوم أمس 4 يوليو 2021 عقد مجموعة من الورش بمشاركة مختلف الأقسام والمراكز وذلك لمشاركة أفضل التجارب والممارسات ,ويأتي هذا التعاون بناء على ثقافة التطوير المستمر والسعي لتقوية الروابط مع فروع الجامعة الأخرى

In collaboration with UTAS-Ibri, a series of benchmarking workshops conducted yesterday on the 4th July 2021 involving most of the departments and centres. The aim of the workshops was to share best practices and to strengthen the relationships among UTAS-branches
