The IT Department, in collaboration with the Research and Consultancy Committee, conducted a webinar entitled “Covid-19 Analysis and Diagnosis through Machine Learning” on November 30, 2021 via Google Meet.

The guest speaker was Dr. Mohammad “Sufian” Badar, hailed as an experienced educator and researcher. He taught in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of California, Riverside, CA, USA; became an Analytics Architect in Century Link for more than a year in Denver, CO, USA; and possessed an excellent academic record in MS Molecular Science and Nanotechnology and Ph.D. in Engineering from Louisiana Tech University Ruston, LA, USA, respectively.

Dr. Badar presented his research on a machine learning model, which predicts the Covid infection based on symptoms only. Also, the model diagnoses patients according to the severity of their symptoms (mild, moderate, or severe), and if they have had contact with a Covid patient. Currently, he and his team, are trying to increase the accuracy of the model’s prediction results.

The webinar provided insightful research ideas as well research opportunity collaboration to the participants.
