BSD HRD Organized faculty development programs for the staff

The Human Resource Development (HRD) Committee of Business Studies Department (BSD) of ‘University of Technology and Applied Sciences’ has organized faculty development programs for the staff members on Wednesday 23 rd September, 2020. The programs were ‘Creating Screencast Videos using Screencast-O-Matic’ and ‘Creating interactive PowerPoint Presentation with customized animation and design’. The facilitators for the programs respectively were Ms. Jasmin Tumulak - IT Lecturer and Ms. Larissa Santos - BSD Lecturer.

During the first session, the facilitator Ms. Jasmin, presented valuable information on the purpose and need of screencast-digital video. The facilitator elaborately presented information on Mayer’s principles of multimedia, examples using financial statements were explained to the attendees for an effective understanding. The facilitator also explained the attendees on the ideal length of the video, segmenting principles i.e. the importance of presenting multimedia messages in segments than in continuity. In addition to this, the facilitator also elucidated the attendees the importance of signaling aspects in multimedia messages and 7 x 7 rule i.e. seven lines and seven words for effective presentation. The session was lively and the audience were glad to learn essential screencast-digital video.

The second session facilitator, Ms. Larissa, delivered on creating Microsoft PowerPoint with customized design and animation. The facilitator also explained details in creating interactive PowerPoint presentations. The session was lively, and all participants were pleased to learn customized aspects of PowerPoint for the effective communication. Both the sessions were participative as staff members were clearing their doubts during the sessions.

Presently, because of Covid-19, only 70% of staff members are reporting to office and the remaining 30% are on 'work from home' basis. Maintaining the standard practices of social distancing, only few staff members were present in the live session, the rest of the staff members including 30% on ‘work from home’ attended the online session (Webinar).
