Mechanical Engineering Section Guest Lecture on “Industrial Pumps – Operation & Maintenance”

Engr. Sugumar Rajamani, Technical Maintenance Manager, Mina Petroleum LLC, Salalah delivered a guest lecture in March 2020 about“Industrial Pumps – Operation & Maintenance” to Diploma Level students and staff of Mechanical Engineering Program .

Initially, a brief introduction about the company operations was given and then elaborated on the following topics:

  • Basic function of a pump
  • Major types of industrial pump
  • Construction and working principle of centrifugal and positive displacement pumps
  • Application of pumps in industry
  • Operating procedure
  • Maintenance program for industrial pumps

The session served as introduction to dealing with real life working procedure of pump operations and maintenance.
