With the start of the Academic Year 2023-2024 on September 3, 2023, Dr. Ahmed Ali Al Shahri, the newly appointed Assistant Vice-Chancellor of UTAS-Salalah addressed all the staff to set the tone for the year ahead. After extending a warm welcome, he stated that this year is pivotal in the institution's history as it embarks on a journey of full integration and growth.
The merging of Salalah College of Technology (SCT) and the College of Applied Sciences (CAS) stands as part of the vision of University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) for a more cohesive institution that can offer unparalleled educational opportunities in the Dhofar Region. Dr. Al Shahri likewise emphasized the potentials and opportunities of this merger by combining the strengths and resources of both institutions.
He apprised the staff of the accomplishments during the break stating that the teams worked diligently to ensure a smooth transition and gladly announced successful accomplishments, including curriculum alignment, administrative process integration, and the initial steps in merging of technological infrastructures.
Looking ahead, the AVC acknowledged that challenges may lay on the horizon. The merging of two institutions is a complex undertaking, but the AVC expressed confidence in UTAS-Salalah’s ability to face these challenges.
Finally, the AVC took a moment to express gratitude to all the staff for their unwavering dedication and commitment to the institution's mission which have been instrumental in the merger's success. He welcomed back every staff member and recognized their pivotal role in shaping the future of the merged institution.
