Engr. Khair Al-Rawas, SCT Alumni, currently the Flake Quality Engineer at Octal Petrochemicals Company delivered a guest lecture about process and production of polyethylene to Chemical Engineering Advanced Diploma students. She gave a brief introduction about the post-consumer waste of polyethylene terephthalate of Octal Petrochemicals, and conducted interactive discussion related to the process. Two other alumni, Engr. Ali Hubais, Process Engineer and Engr. Asraar Baalawy, trainee in Process Safety also attended the session. They shared their experiences and imparted the importance of process safety as well as soft skills needed to meet industry expectations. Hearing directly from alumni about their experiences in the "real world" of Chemical Engineering is a great opportunity for our students to shape their own plans and ambitions for future employment. The session concluded at 2:00 pm with Engr. Arlene A. Joaquin, SCT - Chemical Engineering Coordinator giving the word of thanks.

For the second consecutive year, Dakkah Engineering Services Company and NAMA Company sponsored a campaign – workshop aimed at promoting Energy Conservation in the Sultanate. This workshop was attended by 24 students from Civil and Architecture Section of SCT-Engineering Department.

The campaign-workshop focused on three main areas: designing sustainable and energy-saving homes, the efficiency of the devices used to provide electricity, and the correct behaviors to rationalize consumption.

Key speakers Architects Hanan Mohamed Al-Kasbi and Afifa Ali Al-Dhuhli provided activities and exercises that made the students experience new atmosphere of learning as they were assigned in small groups that facilitated easier presentations and allowed for practical discussions.

The workshop was a key activity of Dakkah Engineering Services Company and NAMA Company being a part of their campaign for electricity conservation relations work in all areas of the society. The campaign aims to highlight the importance of rationalizing energy consumption, conserving national resources, and promoting best practices in the electricity sector.

Feedback from the workshop was very positive; students admired the way the speakers handled the sessions and suggested to have it each year to have a chance to explore more ideas.

The workshop concluded by giving certificates of attendance to the participants.

Gratitude and appreciation is extended to HoD - Engineering Department, HoS-Civil & Architectural Section, and Student Development Committee and Architectural staff for their overall support that made the activity a success.
