On December 15, 2022, the College of Economics and Business Administration, organised a Community Outreach Programme on ’Essentials of Communication Skills in Business’ in the University premises in the Brainstorming room. The speaker Dr.Rathna Chellappa, Lecturer in Accounting emphasized how effective communication skills help to build strong partnerships, promote products or services, build collaboration and teamwork, promote employees ability towards emotional intelligence and awareness and the essentials of communication as an important component for organization success.
Dr.Rathna explained that if communication is made clearly, efficiently and accurately, it would have impact on a company’s reputation and credibility, and say a lot about its professionalism. She further added that when the art of listening and speaking skills are perfectly managed at workplace, it would help to impress clients, raise morale of employees, facilitate business meetings promptly, handle controversies respectfully and over all, helps to attain managerial efficiency.
The target group of audience for the programme included public, teachers and the students. The overwhelming response from the audience was the hall mark of the day and the speaker pointed out how good communication skills could pave way for employability of students and how well the professionals could acquire the skills and knowledge to communicate well with their team members, superiors, clients and customers. Thanks to the support given by the Head of Accounting section Mr. Neil Raymond, and the Lecturers Mr. Mohamed Sheriff and Mr. Ricardo Biason, the meeting was ended successfully.
