The Information Systems Program of the Multimedia Section of the IT Department organized a workshop entitled "The How To’s of Systems Analysis and Design.” It is in collaboration with the IT Student Development Committee, chaired by Dr. Bernard Ugalde and IT Club. It was conducted on the 22nd of February 2022 in the IT Building from 12:00-1:30 P.M.
The workshop aimed to provide students with a practical approach on how to properly conduct the systems analysis and design, vital to systems development. Further, it guided and reinforced students taking course projects specifically on how to produce accurate deliverables required to produce IS solutions.
The workshop's speaker was Ms. Marian Malig-on, a Systems Analysis and Design expert and lecturer in the Information Systems Program. She first provided an overview of the Systems Analysis and Design landscape, its significance to the course project, and its context to the real-world application. The workshop prospered explaining how to do a proper systems analysis, how its deliverables intertwined, and as a basis in performing the system's design and to the overall system development process. She also stressed the applicability of each phase of the systems analysis and design relating it to the student’s actual experience in their course project endeavor. Finally, she strongly motivated the students to pay close attention to the system development process in order to produce accurate deliverables required to produce a high-quality Information System solution.
Furthermore, Dr. Abhishek Dubey, HOS of Multimedia Section, gave welcome remarks and expressed his gratitude to the speaker for sharing her expertise and the participants who positively responded to the invitation. He also highlighted the essence of the workshop to the students and in their chosen specialization. Also, Mr. Mohammed Azeem Qureshi, Program Coordinator of Database graced the activity sharing his words of inspiration to the students. Dr. T. Karthikeyan, a lecturer from IS Program hosted the event with the support of Ms. Melissa Juanillo, a lecturer from the Database Program.
The workshop was participated by students taking course projects from IS and Database Programs and other Diploma level students from the IT Section. All showed great enthusiasm and full participation until the end of the session. The workshop received a positive response from the student participants who got e-certificates immediately after.
