University of Technology and Applied Sciences – Salalah participated online in the Huawei ICT Academies gathering in Muscat last March 29, 2022. The event was co-hosted by the Ministry of Transport, Communication and Information Technology of Oman and Omantel.

The Huawei ICT Academy is a school-business partnership that includes higher education institutions and aids in the development of local talent ecosystems and the development of future ICT leaders. Since its introduction in 2013, Huawei has developed a talent supply chain that spans the full process of learning, certification, and employment by extending the cooperation mechanism between colleges and organizations. Huawei ICT Academies have benefited the lives of over 5,000 students in Oman to far, helping them to gain critical ICT skills.

Fahad Al Abri, Director-General Sector Development and Capacity Building at Oman Ministry of Transport, Communication and Information Technology gave an opening speech. He said that the Oman Vision 2040's digital transformation aspirations necessitate an expedited skills development program to match. Because our universities cannot do it alone, we encourage collaboration across the ICT sector.

The long-term Huawei partners in diverse areas, according to Ibtihal Al Riyami, General Manager of Organization Planning at Omantel, benefit substantially from Huawei's various ICT skills development initiatives, which allow us to improve the customer experience.

Chenjianhan, the CEO of Huawei Oman, pointed out that the company is committed to strengthening Oman's ICT environment and cultivating local talent through collaboration with governments, universities, and industry groups.

Dr. Bernard Ugalde, one of the certified Huawei instructors, gave a short talk about UTAS-Salalah Huawei Academy journey. With him are Ms. Jasmin Tumulak, and Mr. Suresh Palarimath.

Lastly, Huawei awarded UTAS-Salalah as one of the Best Active Academies who achieved the highest number of instructors who received Huawei Certified ICT Associate (HCIA) in different ICT courses for the year 2021.
