Dr. Rakesh Namdeti, UTAS-SCT Chemical Engineering Lecturer, attended and presented a study paper during the first international virtual conference on “Smart Innovation in Science and Engineering” (SISE), of which he won the Best Paper Presenter.
Dr. Namdeti, along with Engr. Arlene Joaquin, authored the research paper "Biosorption of Methylene Blue from Aqueous Solution Using Banana Leaves Powder: Optimization Using Response Surface Methodology (RSM)." The paper won the award for its importance to Dhofari environment, owing to the fact that bananas are widely grown in Salalah.
The said conference, which was mainly for faculty and research scholars, focused on recent advances in various engineering fields: Chemical, Electrical and Computer, Mechanical and Mechatronics, Civil, and Architectural Engineering. A total of 41 technical papers along those fields were submitted from different countries. Technical committees from each region selected the “Best Paper Presenter” based on originality, information organization, presentation, knowledge of materials, and relevance to the conference theme.
The SISE virtual conference was organized by the College of Engineering, Dhofar University, Salalah, on April 7-8, 2021.
