Inspired from that quote, the ELC Art Club arranged for a vegetable and fruit carving workshop for students on the 14th of March, 2023 in the Self-Access Center. All the required tools were provided by the club.
The objective of this activity was to showcase students’ creativity without wasting food. The guest speaker, who is actually a Chef de Cuisine Banquet, demonstrated on how to carve designs on some vegetables and fruits. He worked in various countries like the UAE, KSA, Qatar, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, and Egypt before coming over to Oman.
Like sculptors, students participated with enthusiasm and expressed their ideas creatively by learning and making basic carvings like rose, spirals, and different kinds of flowers out of carrot, cucumber, beetroot, and radish.
According to the teachers who also watched the demonstration, the workshop was informative, interactive and interesting. The Art Club hopes that students can implement these skills in practical sessions and in their future career life.
