The site visits always strengthen the teaching and learning process. The students of Architectural Engineering section visited the Al Hafa area which is the old core part of Salalah city. The visit was organized by Ar. Jyoti S. Gidavir and Ar. Aravamudhan A. S for the students of Bachelor level and Diploma Second year, on 1st March 2023.
Mr. Mohammed Hamza, Project Manager, Al Hafa Conservation Project welcomed the staff and students.
The aim of the visit was to understand the traditional architectural characters, spatial arrangement of spaces, type of construction and the building materials for the Diploma students. For Bachelor students it’s a live project of Architectural Conservation. The study aimed to understand and document the architectural characters, identify the building defects, the façade treatments and so on.
Mr. Mohammed took the group throughout the site and he took to specific houses into the internal layouts. He explained many aspects of the study. He discussed about the settlement pattern, materials, method of construction, timeline and about documentation. The students and staff had a good interaction about the project.
Overall the visit fulfilled the aim of the visit.
