The Department was established in 2020 but has its roots in the Entrepreneur Club founded in 2013. The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Department (EID) aims to accomplish the goals of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, which embodies the aspirations of the Oman Vision 2040 for enhancing entrepreneurship and innovation to build a knowledge-based economy and society.
The EID aims at playing a significant role in achieving these objectives through enhancing an entrepreneurial culture and promoting a stimulating entrepreneurial environment in the university. The department offers a range of training, workshops, seminars, and competitions designed to support and enhance the students’ journey throughout their entrepreneurial projects. It coordinates and works closely with the other academic departments in the university, but has a significant external dimension involving well-known institutions and entrepreneurship centers. The combination of all these factors are intended to enable the students to pursue their entrepreneurial ideas and transfer these ideas into viable projects.
We also seek to transfer our knowledge to broader society via registering and obtaining patents and intellectual properties and establishing start-ups through students’ entrepreneurial projects. It is our intention to build bridges and dialogue between the university faculty and institutions in the public and private sectors in order to understand on-going mutual challenges and provide innovative solutions or advice through our faculty members.
It is the intention of the department to look outward, embrace change and with the participation of our external partners, prepare students for what lies ahead for the benefit of both students themselves, and broader Omani society.
