DWSIM on Chemical Process Industries - Basics

This course is intended to equip you with the skills you need to simulate the chemical process using DWSIM. DWSIM is a powerful and flexible chemical process simulation environment, built around three key values of innovation, integration, and open architecture. DWSIM is an open-source CAPE-OPEN compliant chemical process simulator. It features a Graphical User Interface (GUI), advanced thermodynamics calculations, reactions support and petroleum characterization / hypothetical component generation tools. DWSIM can simulate steady-state, vapor–liquid, vapor–liquid-liquid, solid–liquid and aqueous electrolyte equilibrium processes and has built-in thermodynamic models and unit operations.

Learners who complete this program should be equipped to apply the knowledge of chemical process simulation for technical jobs in Chemical process industries. No previous experience on simulation software is necessary.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Define process simulation and explain the significance of simulation softwares in chemical process industries.
  • Explain the basics of DWSIM.
  • Design the process flowsheet diagram in DWSIM software.
  • Design the continuous Distillation column and to correlate product streams using DWSIM.
  • Design the heat exchanger and to correlate the product streams.
  • Develop the chemical reactor flowsheet and design it using DWSIM .
  • Develop the cost estimation for different process equipment.
