SCT Brief Background
SALALAH COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY is one of the five Colleges of technology established in the Sultanate of Oman. The College is working under the Directorate General of Technological Education, Ministry of Manpower. It is located in Al-Saadah, facing the Salalah – Thumrait Road, about six kilometers from Salalah Center.
The Salalah Technical College aims high to train Omani youth through quality education and qualify them to take up employment in the public and private sectors of the economy and in pursuit of the national policy of Omanization.
The College offers Higher Diploma course in various fields of specialization such as Business Engineering, Construction and Information Technology, additionally is the English Foundation courses from intermediate up to advance english learning. All Students are required to pass the one-year English Foundation Course and are admitted to the 2-year Diploma course of their choice.
A brief history of Salalah College of Technology
The College started as Vocational Training Center in 1979 with only 89 students. Fourteen years later in 1993, it was converted to Technical Industrial College and doubled its population to 185. The College officially opened in 2001. During A.Y. 2006-2007 it increased its number of students to 2,132 and employed 197 staff.
The College currently offers programmes in Business, Engineering and Information Technology with 156 academic staff and 55 administrative staff.
The Business Department offers programmes in Office Management, Human Resources Management, Accounting and Finance, E-Business, and Marketing.
The Engineering Department offers programmes in Architecture Engineering, Air-condition and Refrigeration Engineering, Construction Engineering Quantity Surveying, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering Draftsman,Electrical Power Engineering, Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Draftsman, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Draftsman, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Engineering, The Information Technology Department offers programmes in Networking, Database Technology, Software Engineering, and IT-Business.
